Test Shots
With the genre of music I'm using my model doesn't necessarily have to be pouting at a camera the poses can be more playful or fierce to represent the style of music. The problem I may have is the volume of photos I need to take, due to the nature of my magazine it will need to be fairly busy so lots of photos of lots of different artists will need to be taken in order to create the right look. Even if I do end up drawing parts of it I will still need a substantial amount of photos and information in order to have the right style.
Bauer Media Group
A multinational media company headquartered in Hamburg
Germany which operates in 15 countries worldwide. Turnover during 2012 was €2.129billion
euro.
They also publish magazines such a Q,
KERRANG and MOJO
which are all well-known music magazines although cater to slightly different
genres.
My music magazine is similar to
KERRANG which is why I
believe Bauer
would be a good publisher for my
magazine. They already have
successful
music magazines and a lot of other
magazines as well such as Empire
which is
a British film magazine. It would be
beneficial as they would already
know
where the magazine would sell and the best
area to sell it in order to hit
the target
market.

Font Moodboard
Looking at different fonts that can be used on the cover of my magazine and for the banners in the contents and middle page spread. It’s important as the right font will and the colours used will need to be eye catching and hopefully appealing to the target market.
Magazine Title
The reason why I wish to call my magazine ‘CTRL’ –coming from the control button of a keyboard- is because the target market I am aiming for can be easily influenced through the use of social media such as Twitter and Tumblr. They are often downloading their music whether legally or illegally and I think that ‘CTRL’ just fits the type of person I am looking at.
The title of the magazine is important to catch the eye of potential buyers, which is why I chose the colour yellow in order for it to stand out amongst other magazines in a rack or on a shelf.
Originally I was going to call the magazine Alt for alternative though on a keyboard stands for alternate function. It was to show that it wasn’t just generic poprock that it was open to slightly different genres of music but then I thought that CTRL may fit my audience better.
